At the beginning of last week, It was red ribbon week so the kids were talking about being Drug Free. Clay wanted to enter the poster contest, so he drew up quite a poster. He really wanted to win. (that's one hard thing about being a mom, you just want to rig everything so your kid always wins, knowing that would not be good for any kid, because when they do fail, their whole world would come to a halt in their eyes) Anyways, he got in the car yesterday to go home from school, and he was excited to tell me, he got 2nd place in the poster contest. I was so happy for him. Garrett of course was all mad because he didn't win. I told him you have to actually make a poster to enter in the contest to win. He wanted to go home and make a poster so he could win tomorrow. I don't think he got it...Needless to say I held him over with, when the next poster contest came around, we would make a poster for him to turn in. I just hope he wins, or you know how that would end. Here's a picture of Clay's poster. He spent a lot of time on it and I love it!!

The Hunters did Return, with an animal, and boy were they excited. Now you must know that Jared would not have shot this size of an animal normally, but, how do you tell 2 precious little boys that the deer is not big enough to shoot. Especially when they are both yelling shoot it Dad, shoot it!! So I have to say sorry to my friend Chad for making fun of his small deer, because this one is about that size. Sorry Chad. The boys had such a fun time. The first thing Clay told me when he came in at 10:00 p.m. was "Dad made me hold the leg while he gut it Mom, but I couldn't watch, I had to look at nature while he was cleaning it out." Then the first thing Garrett said was " Mom Clay couldn't watch Dad gut the deer, but I watched the whole thing, Clay didn't see it, but I saw everything even the guts, and I likted the guts." Sorry about all the graphics but you can definitely tell their two totally opposite personalities just from their first sentences. I'm glad all my boys are home safe. I missed them.

Next,
This week we had our Annual Primary Halloween Carnival and it was such a fun time. The kids always have such a fun time at this activity, and it isn't a whole lot of work for anyone. My dear friend Nicole gave us this idea when she was in the presidency with us, and we have carried the tradition ever since. I hope that even when we get out of our callings and Primary Presidency, whoever takes us over will carry this on. Dirk Keyes rigged a donut eating station, and the kids loved it. We did our cookie decorating station as well which is always a favorite. This year I ordered the sugar cookies from Macey's because I didn't want to cut out 200 cookies again, but I did make the frosting, so they did still taste OK. Frosting makes all the difference, in case you didn't know:) Mel, Natalie, and Jill (my presidency) were all such a help. Nothing would ever work without good help, and I do have good help. Such a fun night, I thought I would add a couple pictures.
Mikee( I mean a bwoo monster) catching his donut.
My sister Jaimee catching her donut. She did pretty good(for an adult, or course)

Ellie Belle as"Belle" (how fitting) And some of the Primary kids.

Garrett getting his face painted. Always a kid favorite

Our Primary program was this week and it went so good!! I think it was our best one yet. The last song was "If the Savior stood beside me" and we hung pictures of the Savior around the kid's necks while we hummed the song and walked around the congregation. Then once we were surrounding them, we sang the 3rd verse which is "He is always near me, though I cannot see him there, and because he loves me dearly, I am in his watchful care. So I'll be the kind of person that I know I'd like to be if I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me" We had so many teary eyes in that chapel, even men. It was so touching. The kids do have the spirit with them and they can help us all to feel of the Saviors Love for us. I really do love my calling serving the children. They are my blessings. I'm so proud of all of them, especially because almost all of them had their parts memorized, and because Friday's practice was a nightmare, and I was truly worried that it was going to be awful. Boy was I wrong. The spirit was so strong in that building No one could deny feeling it. I guess you could say we did our job on that Sunday, because the spirit was with us. The church really is true!!
Wow, this is getting a little long, but I need to put 2 little blurbs about Ellie before I forget them.
We were going out to the car, and she said "Mom I'm so glad you bought me a new car seat. I love it because it has a hut shoulder" I then ask her what is a hut shoulder and she says "you know to put my drink in" Meaning a cup holder:)
Then we get in the car and I start putting on hand sanitizer, and she says "Mom can you pass me some of that hanitizer". Meaning hand sanitizer. I kind of like that name better, it's more condensed. She is so funny!

I loved the program, you and the kids did a great job! My mother-in-law said it was the best she's seen anywhere. (do you think she's bias?) Thanks for all your hard work in the Primary, the kids love you!
